I enjoyed reading 'The Brooklyn Follies' - though I see what you mean about the end; not the best way to finish. Also, I didn't think Lucy was a very convincing character.
The plot was a bit contrived at times, and it reminded me of a slightly sub-par Anne Tyler novel. A quote on the front cover said it was 'deliciously funny' - I'd have said it had moments of mild humour, but my ribs were never in danger. Overall, however, it was a thought-provoking narrative with some intriguing characters. I'd recommend it for it's good qualities, and will be reading more Auster in the future.
Next up is 'Swiftly' by Adam Roberts - I recently read 'Yellow Blue Tibia' (a brilliant title when you find out what it means

) and it was very good!
