Hello!
I am a Chinese living in Hong Kong and English is my second language, as you know, HK was under control by the Great Britain until 1997, every student was forced to learn English since birth(but that's great to most of the HK people anyway). I love reading very much, but I still couldn't leisure myself by reading English novels/newspapers/magazines, due to my not-so-good English(e.g. referring to dictionaries is an annoying act for me!). (Certainly I can read and write English for my studies/business, when I am forced to....) Therefore, most of the time I read Chinese books, until I got my Kindle 2.
I got my Kindle 2 as soon as its international version being available overseas. Actually I'm glad that it doesn't support Chinese, this force me to read in English, with the help of the built-in/easy-to-use dictionary. And now, ~3 weeks after I got my Kindle 2, I'm now enjoying a series of Starwars novels that are not available in Chinese, enjoying international newspapers and magazines such as Forbes & Newsweek. And I think my English is improving! (at 37 years old!!) (Kidding)
Although someone has already hacked the firmware and make Chinese ebooks readable in Kindle 2(method -- search Google please!), but I decided not to apply this hack because, at the moment, I enjoy reading in English with Kindle very much!
I have bought another Kindle 2 for my wife and she loves it very much!! (Her English reading skill is certainly much awful than mine!!)
