Sarah Palin never said that she could see Russia from her back yard or her house. Her actual quote was "They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska." Tina Fey playing Palin on SNL said "I can see Alaska from my house." CNN only fact checks SNL when they make fun of President Obama so I can understand your confusion.
