As far as my experiments, a note is attached to the page with highlight, not the highlight specifically but the highlight and the note will appear together in the "My Clippings.txt" file. That file can be printed out and/ or amended on your computer (notes are also available online and in the Kindle for PC app).
Also the clippings limit is higher than the Sony and can be circumvented to remove the limit. You also have the option of screen grabs of pages.
I'm not knocking the Sony, I just wanted to point out that it is not the only device with highlighting and note taking abilities. The iRed iLiad can do notes via stylus as well but I'm not sure about highlighting.
