Tried it right now and it worked for me. If you can get it to fail consistently, run it from the command line as
ebook-convert The\ New\ York\ Times\ \(subscription\).recipe .epub --username whatever --password whatever --debug-pipeline p
This will create a directory p in which there will be a sub-directory input. Zip up the input subdirectory and attach it to a ticket
