That's the summary. I get the same "Error" message as others.
The key lines from the console log appear to be
Code:
Nov 12 07:32:24 Kumbo kextd[417]: kld_load_from_memory() failed for module /System/Library/Extensions/sony_prs.kext/Contents/MacOS/sony_prs
Nov 12 07:32:24 Kumbo kextd[417]: a link/load error occured for kernel extension /System/Library/Extensions/sony_prs.kext
Unable to open device <calibre.devices.prs505.driver.PRS505 object at 0x5bad310>
Sony support ran me around for about 2 hours total, including an escalation.
It turns out that, to get EBL to recognise the reader, I must completely purge the installation, reinstall, reboot, and then connect the reader. EBL will then be able to recognise the reader. Until I close EBL and open it again, at which point it fails once more. This is not a useful work-around.
Without Calibre, my PRS-300 would currently be a frustratingly expensive collection of excerpts. As it is, I can't buy books from the Sony store because I can't put them onto the reader. Are there so few people having this problem that a loss of revenue isn't a problem for them?
