You can lock the keyboard, (this is something like standby)
When you switch the device off it is switched off completely and every time you switch it on it boots the kernel, loads the whole system and (as a configurable option) loads the book you were reading when you switched the device off. It takes less than 21 seconds.
My old Sony reader PRS-500 is on in 2 seconds after hitting the on switch and you can not beat that, but I would not go back, even if I could upgrade just display on the PRS-500.
