Awww.. *sniff* what a great thread to wake up to (waaaaay too early on my day off, mind you!)

I am eating my fabulous peanut butter toast in bed (made by my own little 9yo culinary expert), which I will wash down with delicious koolaid. I will leave plenty of room for my gorgeous penguin cake, however!!! (I am sure it's made of ice cream, which is my very favorite kind of cake) My 7yo just came in, followed by my 6yo, to request very seriously that I *not* come into the kitchen, as they are making a prize for me in the kitchen. I shuddered just a little (on the inside) because I'm not sure what prize can be created in our currently messy kitchen (besides peanut butter toast!), but I eagerly await its completion. (I just now heard him whisper to his daddy "daddy! I'm making a present for mommy and sister is making the card! come here, and I'll tell you what it is!")

Yesterday, one of my coworkers put an elaborate spread with a little flourless cake (heaven in a ball!) and lots of fragrant pua kenikeni all around my desk in this gorgeous display that included easter grass (which somehow seemed to fit). She said she wanted to make a lei, but she didn't have enough. My office smelled so nice! She also said my desk was too messy, and she had to shove papers to the side to make room for her artistic creation. (side note-- I'm actually super organized, but my desk is my ram or whatever on the computer is always going crazy accessing things here and there... my working memory, so to speak... and the rest of my office is the long-term memory stuff, whatever that is in computer talk) Another coworker bought me lunch. And this morning, I have already had several texts from other coworkers/colleagues wishing me happy birthday.

I have had *plenty* of birthdays go by where the only people who seemed to notice were my mom and husband (and since it's a school holiday- Veteran's Day- no one at school has ever acknowledged it before either!), so it's really nice to have birthday wishes coming out to me from all over the world! Warm fuzzies! (which penguins, contrary to what you might think, really enjoy! it melts the snow off)

(lady blue-- how did you get that picture of me?? that was me celebrating my 6th birthday! thanks for the memories!)
(dg-- I hope no one has to freeze this jolly good fellow for a long time... )

(rofl- my daughter just gave me the card-- it's full of pixie sticks!! Halloween leftovers. And a great picture she drew of the two of us. She's explaining that she had to find a flat candy to fit in the card!)
