I already have a 6" Cybook, so my light reading and dictionary needs are already fulfilled. I'm just after a bigger ereader for the purpose I've mentioned.
That Asus alternative looks nice, although I imagine the battery won't last long (in terms of each charging cycle and life time too). At least I have a laptop which in less than a year had to have the battery replaced. I imagine the Asus will last more than two hours, but I guess not much more than double than that. And I don't know about the battery life.
About brightness/contrast, I've already an eink device, the Cybook, so I know that EInk doesn't compare to LCD. I'm already alerted to that. But that's fine for me, as it's important for me the fact that eink doesn't tire your eyes as much as LCD. And it can be read easily in very bright places, under the sun for example.
