I just loaded the EZReader firmware from 28 October.
It isn't completely different but I think it's a bit quicker. There seem to be more circumstances where it's faster like directory changes and some page turns.
Interesting that Stormchild sees the Mini as lightning fast. It sounds like the 400 MHz processor makes a big difference.
