But I have a tendency to trace through the etymology on words, and obscure stuff sticks. The useful stuff doesn't so much...
Palus is also Latin for stake, which is what I based my translation on, and fulgur as flashing or lightning. So not knowing the Dutch for speed cameras, lightening rod made more sense than flashing pole (of course, Sweetpea might have had an aversion to Eastern European flashers...)

I hear that arson is a very effective cure, if administered in a balaclava whilst approaching the camera away from the lens side... however as most of them are digital now, I believe, it won't help if it's already flashed you...
