I once found a sailor’s wallet on the base where I work. After unsuccessfully trying to find out which ship he was stationed on (I called all the ships in port at the time as well as base security), I called the 800 number on the back of one of his credit cards. They were more helpful, and after explaining the situation and giving them my name and number, they were able to contact their customer and give him that information. He soon called me, and got his wallet back. Needless to say, he was quite relieved to recover his wallet, and probably even more relieved to know that his personal information hadn’t fallen into the hands of an identity thief.

Don’t lose hope, there are still a few honest people out there, but stay vigilant, and stay on top of your bank information!
