I didn't make the rules. Blame nature, God, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster for making certain species carnivores, but don't blame me. I would have loved to have set out a bowl of cheerios for its nourishment each morning, but the end result would have been a dead python.

And note: this rat, which unlike its mates, was totally domesticated, lived. None of us had the heart to feed Tasha to anyone.

The vast majority of human parents, with the exception of those who are vegetarians, think nothing of providing their children with domesticated animals which have been slaughtered for their dining pleasure. And unlike snakes, their children don't die if they forgo meat. So which is worse?

The animals killed by pythons die quickly, usually within 30 seconds. Have you ever seen how animals die in some of the factory farming operations?
