I hope someone can help...

About 25 years ago I read a book about the Spanish Armada. Included in the book was a lengthy quote from the English Admiral's despatch to Queen Elizabeth, which was one of the most perfectly beautiful examples of Elizabethan prose I've ever read.

Can I recall the author or title of the book? Nope.
Can I find it in my public library? Nope.

Any clues gratefully received.
