Excuse me for not reverting earlier: There were many varieties of PyQt4 in the repositories, which I installed without knowing what I was doing, and I ended up in the soup.

I ended up reinstalling Eeebunt 3.00, a netbook version of Jaunty (partitions of 4gb for /root, 8gb for /home, 4gb for /usr) with a good result.

I've since seen Calibre in the repository and am wondering whether to install from there, as when I pasted the instructions from the Calibre site of the previous occasion, it began to install, but was unable to complete the process.

I was getting messages about insufficient space, so am wondering whether I have enough space on this small machine for installing Calibre.

Regards
John
