Actually Barnes & Noble has been doing it "sort of" for about a month. They supply free WiFi in the store which allows you to shop their store and then purchase from the online store of your choice. Since they own Barnes & Noble.com, Fictionwise and eReader.com they profit either way.

My description is probably too simplified, but...... You get the idea.
