There are certainly lots of nice second-hand bookshops. And the countryside around there is lovely.

But if I want a particular second-hand book, abebooks is a lot more convenient, and has more stock than the whole of Hay-on-Wye.

And I agree that the stock in Hay-on-Wye is probably a little overpriced. OTOH, you do get to inspect the book before purchase.
