Vera was having some problems with her personal reality. It probably had something to do with slowly freezing to death in the back of an ice truck, but she could not help but feel that her name was Constance and that she was in love with a man named Armistice. What a silly name! She wished that she had her revolver with her. Then remembered that she did not have a revolver. She made a mental note to get a revolver when she got out of this mess.

She wondered what was going on with Vivaldi. And with Dr Montsnmags and Slick. Mostly she wondered when the idiot driving this truck was going to stop and pen the door so she could kick his fundament into next week. She was getting annoyed, now.

Suddenly, the truck lurched to a stop. Vera stood near the door, ready for her one chance. The door swung open and the man there said, "Okay, no funny AAAIIIEEE!" It was amazing what a size eight shoe could do to a man's bravado.

Vera jumped down from the truck and rolled into the other man, who was standing there, going, "Huh?" He wnt down and she finished him with a vicious kick to the head. She hadn't been a riverboat gambler for five years for nothing. Dirty fighting came natural at this point.

Looking around, she assessed the situation. She was in a built up area of a city. She assumed it was Havana, since they had not driven for that long. She had two unconscious thugs in front of her, and a truck with the keys still in. Not bad for a day's work.

Getting in the cab, she gunned the engine and drove off. Behind her, the two thugs looked at each other and said, "There were at least five of them and they were all men bigger than us, right?"

"Got it."
