Mmm, well from what I remember it wasn't much of a surprise, so I must have followed some of the news at the time I guess. I'm not sure I would notice if it happened today
I also remember the buses from Eastern Europe visiting Paris in the years afterward. You could recognize them because they were old and run-down and had writing in strange alphabet on the side
