I bought a PRS-600 today, my first foray into the world of e-readers. It will be returned tomorrow, and replaced with a 300, which hopefully will work out better.

I'd like to set a few things straight about the 600: the screen does throw off a considerable amount of glare compared to the 300 and the 505. This is of course my opinion, but I'm in a unique position to make it, being that recognizing and dealing with glare is an important part of my job.

As a professional pilot, my eyes are trained to not only react to different extreme light conditions, but to identify and categorize whatever is causing the disturbance- it's important to be able to identify sharp sunlight due to an aircraft's orientation to the sun vs. the glare being bounced off an object, for instance. That said, the 600's screen throws off quite a bit of glare in my opinion. Under a wide spectrum of lighting conditions, while holding it a normal reading distance, I could always make out my reflection, at every possible angle.

I believe that long term use of this device would be detrimental to eyesight.
