actually, watching the wal-mart waltz here it seems that they in particular put all of the summer/lawn and garden stuff on sale and as it shrinks they add the halloween stuff which turns into the turkeyday stuff which gradually becomes xmas thus taking over all of what used to be summer/lawn and garden, and as soon as that is gone it is replaced by the early bulbs, potting soil... and so on....
