I'd recommend that you use
PDFRead to process the PDF into something that is more readable on the Reader. Use the
prs500-l profile during conversion. Please note that the tool actually converts each page to an image and runs a lot of image processing filters to improve the appearance, so the file size may be bigger than the PDF you have.
