Bois Aussi and Slite walked down the street. They were looking for a taxi, but they did not come to this sort of neighborhood. They resigned themselves to walking.

"Do you suppose that that human guy and the talking dog will be able to find the ice truck?" asked Slite.

"I very much doubt it. He looked to be in the throes of acute Heroism. They very seldom accomplish much more than making a mess on the floor which they do not clean up."

"Still, the look on the Jeffe's face was worth waiting around for."

"Oui. And the slapping of his adjutant. I enjoy a good slapping almost as much as an intense saunter. I have no idea why they did not include that in the Olympics coming up. Filthy Nazis."

"Do you have any idea about what the ice connection is?" asked Slite after a few minutes of silence broken only by the chattering of squirrels in the trees above them.

"Perhaps. In my country, thieves sometimes freeze diamonds into ice to smuggle them past the gendarmes. Of course, when I need to smuggle diamonds, I find it is much more comfortable to just pay off the relevant officals beforehand. Carrying ice in one's pockets becomes tiresome after a while."

"Okay. But what in the world would they need so much ice and diamonds for?"

"Ah, my friend, that is why we are here. And the Americain buffon, as well, of course."

"Somehow, I just know that Dr Montsnmags is behind this..."
