The problem was always there, in every boot. To avoid the problem I had to plug in the charger for a while, twenty minutes or so, some times even a couple of minute did it.
If I tried to turn on the device, without charging it before, there was a message about empty battery and a automatic shutdown. Of course, If I turned it on after the shutdown the red light and a frozen device were there, and I have to wait while the device was charging as I said.
Now, back on firmware 1.6, the device is operating like a charm, no more red lights and a "long" use without recharging (6-8 hours, only reading without any use of the stylus). I have to say goodbye to Spanish menus and tabs, but I can live without them, so waiting for firmware 1.8
