Sounds like you would love a 700 if you read mostly at night. You can plug it in, plus the led's are built in. In the meantime, I'd recommend using lithium batteries. I put them in my 505's PRSACL1 after the alkaline batteries died in about a month. I put them in in May and haven't changed them yet.
