So that brings me to wonder if the manufacturers are using different protocols depending on EU or US regulations. If so, then the fault ultimately goes to the US Regulations for making the manufacturers use these inoperable methods.
EDIT
It seems to be affecting the Mini as well. So they must be doing something different between the v5 and the v3?
I think Id rather have a solid mottled plastic shell than the rubber coating. At least it will not be prone to peeling or ripping. Maybe they can do this for the next batch or version.

I think the BeBook Mini was released after the Astak Pocket Pro. This problem could potentially be an issue for the Hanlin V5, however under that brand they are not really predominate in the english speaking world, hence we don't hear about it. Part of me thinks the issue could be caused by sweat, as I noticed first time using mine that my hands felt rather sweaty while using it. I havent had an issue with mine *fingers crossed*, however it is not the end of the world if it does peel a little - I prefer functionality over form...besides all new toys get roughed a little at some point, my phone is scratched, my new car is scratch (damn parking lots).
Griff, your idea of a solid plastic shell does sound good if this rubber coating is an ongoing issue. Perhaps couple the new shell with the option of a rubber sleeve like the Nintendo Wii controllers and Apple iPhones.
