Ok Guys, thanks for all of your input. I have now decided that my first ereader will be the Sony PRS-505.

Why?

a) I can get it for the same price as the 300 (near enough)
b) In red
c) The slightly bigger screen appeals to me
d) Whilst the dictionary and note taking appeal to me, I dont have this option on real books (other than writing on them) and the extra clarity of the 505 over the 600 is a must for me
e) You get a proper cover for it
f) Its in red
