I've recommended it to a number of people, and they purchased one, and influenced someone else to buy one. I know of 5 people who purchased one in the last 6 months.
I'd recommend a Kindle to any person who is an avid reader. For those people who only read one or two books a year it just doesn't make money sense.
Although for those who haven't purchased one yet I would recommend waiting on the B&N reader and see the reviews and stats on it. When I purchased my kindle B&N wasn't even in the market. I think they'll be strong competition, and since their reader allows sharing, and has color those are two things to consider. Still though you have to weigh it against battery life, and screen glare.
