Some people trust the USB chargers more - especially with some of the battery life posts indicating USB charging seemed to provide more charged capacity than the PSP adapter. Plus Sony sells that PS3 adapter for $24.99... and the PSP adapter for about $39.99, at least in Canada. I just stopped by two Sony Stores, and several other retailers (including Best Buy) who were selling PSP adapters for the exact same price.

It's not my cup of tea personally, but for those who want to charge with USB, the Sony PS3 adapter provides that option, if you can live with it constantly rescanning the database after unplugging from the adapter.
