If you really are acting with the group, and it really is for survival, are you pretending? Or just going along with the group? (Is Steve J getting too philosophic for discussion groups lately?...)

I do believe you can legitimately be part of a group like a company. Thing is, most companies force it, with songs and yearly company picnics, etc, and it doesn't work that way. If you don't feel like you're part of the group, all the matching blazers and free food in the world isn't going to do it.

You should have seen my last office, when we had company get-togethers. The most awkward things you'd ever seen... we were showing up, then excusing ourselves out of there, within an hour!
