I have a Kindle 1 and loved it.

I bought a used Sony PRS-505 as a second reader (for non-Amazon books) and it took me awhile to adjust to the smaller page turn keys. I hated it at first and had to use it exclusively for a week to get really used to it.

But then I tried switching back to my Kindle and having gotten used to the slim portability of the Sony, found it more cumbersome. You might find the same going from a K2 to a K1 especially if you commute with your reader as I do.

Personally, given all the changes that seem around the corner, I'm going to save my money and wait to see how things shake out over the next 6 months before investing more on readers when what I have today does what I need for now. (But take that from someone who is more middle-of-the-road when it comes to gadget spending).
