You're right, I don't need yet another HD to store backup files.

As you know (and to clarify this for other readers, since I may not have been clear in my original post), I thoroughly love the Kindle 2 - the experience of handling it, of using it, of reading from it, and of buying books for it. I want that same experience with a backup device.

However, since the original Kindle is, indeed, an older technology, but - even more important - it has a different ergonomic feel (one which I have yet to experience), I was curious about buying one. Indeed, I would be using it to store books both on the SD card and the device's memory itself. (I have a kind of philosophical approach to that which would be different than the way I use my Kindle 2.)

The fact is this: I love ebook Readers and have quite a few (by some individual's standards), and I'm pretty sure I would enjoy the original Kindle.
