Well, diabloNL has a good point. My meter has very high resistance in AC volts mode and very low resistance in AC ma mode. I think there is some capacitor in the adapter that might be leaking. With high resistance the cap can charge up pretty high on the ripple current. However, put a load in the circuit and the voltage drops. The voltage is 3.6 volts if I put my hand and the voltmeter probes between the reader and ground. (Usual warnings about using your body to search for current leaks apply.)
