Yep this is where e-books go off the rails, you sometimes have to do more work to get the item you PAID for working, while the guy who got the pirated version doesn't have to do any of this. This is why many people who pay for books hate DRM, DRM barely affects piracy.

To be honest in the past I have bought a book (because I like to support this technology and the particular author), then grabbed the pirated version to avoid dealing with DRM. It's just easier.
