He's right, but not in the way he intended. Ebook readers ARE dumb, not dumb to buy, and not dumb to use, and not dumb to have thousands of books in your pocket. But they are PHYSICALLY dumb as compared to other devices.
But then, that's the point. They don't need to be as smart as Deep Blue, or even my SmartPhone. They don't do the same thing, and were never designed to.
They are however, much too expensive for being a dumb device. But that's changing too!
