Heh, romance isn't exactly the purpose behind it. My wife got tired of me going 6 months or more without a haircut* and started making appointments for me with her beautician and insisting that I drive her there.
As for flowers and chocolates, I'd get my wife those things, but she kills every plant we get and constantly complains about her weight (or at least her waistline).
