Although I don't tat much any more, I determined to learn from my grandmother. Every baby in our family has been baptized wearing a pair of tatted booties. Now that she's gone, my kids will either have to use the ones they wore when their kids are baptized or I'll have to get busy and see if I can remember how they are made. Like many patterns, this one was handed down rather than written down.

The handicraft that I have always wanted to learn is bobbin lace. It's tedious, so I would have no expectation of making a large piece.
