We were at the mall last week and went into a store called Halloween Express. Ryleigh wanted to look at the costumes and I was hoping to get out of having to make hers this year.  It seemed like the majority of costumes for girls had a bit of a "slutty" edge to them (forgive the language, but I can't think of a better descriptor).  I have nothing wrong with those types of costumes if they're age appropriate and even at Ryleigh's age (8) she can kind of get away with it (it still seems "cute") but when they get to the middle school age (11-14), those kinds of costumes seem completely wrong. I don't want to sound overly conservative, but I would like the kids to have a chance to be kids before all the hormonal stuff kicks in.  I will say that my husband was thoroughly enamored with all the adult "French maid" (sorry, Zelda) and "Female Pirate" costumes.  I told him if he liked them so much he could wear it!
