I don't know if it's the same for the people on the gulf side, but in Southeast Florida, if you drain your pool, the whole thing will pop up out of the ground! Our pool builders told us that it was weight of the water in the pool that kept it from coming up out of the ground because of the water under the pool. South Florida is basically a shale shelf over water.

At the Washington National Zoo, they have a series of thick cables that run about 35 feet off the ground (called the O Line) that the orangutans can swing across. The cables even run overtop a couple of the walking paths. The first time I saw one of the orangutans swinging across it, it kind of freaked me out! I kept asking my husband why the apes just didn't jump down and make a run for it.
