"Slower" means that there seems to be barely a fraction of a second of extra delay before the page flashes when you press the pageturn button. It is no big deal. I quickly got used to pressing the button when I start the last line on a screen and timing is perfect. (I've read at least a dozen novels on my 300, after many more on my 505.) Speed is not a huge factor on ereader devices. As long as you can have a normal reading rhythm, it's fast enough. There are not PCs that handle graphics, have to process image and video data, etc. Just display text and turn pages, basically. If it takes 15-30 seconds one time to format a new book, I don't see that as a problem.
Oh yeah, and my 300fits easily in the front pocket of my jeans or dress pants, even with the pouch orSony cover.
