I also just finished Homer and Langley by E.L. Doctorow and enjoyed reading about these two eccentric brothers. At the beginning of the book I noticed that the spoken dialog did not have quotation marks around it and I thought the publisher screwed up the ePub file. However, after checking the first few pages that were available for viewing at Amazon, I learned it was Doctorow's style to not use quotation marks. Doctorow's articulate writing also helped expand my limited vocabulary as I had to look up about two dozen unfamiliar words.
