Vera woke up, freezing to death. She tried to pull the gag off her moth but was hampered by the ropes tying her arms behind her. She attempted to walk to the back of the.. truck, yes, obviously a truck based on the noise and the bumpy motions it was making... but was hampered by the ropes tying her ankles together. Trying to get at the ankle ropes was further hampered by the selfsame wrist ropes.

Well, this is a fine pickle, she thought.

She was lying on a burlap sack thrown over what had to be a huge block of ice. If she squirmed just right.. yes, she could definitely fall into a more uncomfortable postion.

The truck bounced over a pothole, increasing her discomfort.

Good thing I'm used to Wisconsin winters, she thought.
