The whole point of "loyalty schemes" is, of course, to encourage you to make repeat purchases. It's difficult to see why any retailer would offer you "discount" in a form which didn't encourage you to return to that site.
The FW Micropay system really isn't at all difficult to understand or use. It's just a personal credit balance that you maintain at FW. You top it up with "real money", and use it to buy books. When you buy, you gain additional credit in your Micropay account.
