With fear of repeating myself, I made such a patch for ipdf firmware version 2.9. It throttles the CPU automatically, using 400Mhz for rendering/zoom etc, 200Mhz for scribbles and 100Mhz for idle. It's available at
iRex forums. There's a pre-compiled ipdf for those that trust binary downloads from the Internet running as root on their computers. ;-)
Oh, and it was done in a day and a half, with 3 kids around - which is more like 3 hours of actual time. :-)
