It is good in practice too, but there are always exceptions EVERY rule.
For example, the Nokia BL-5C battery that I am thinking of using a possible replacement was subject to a rather large recall program 2 years ago. Nokia did stand behind their product and replaced the defective units. It is highly unlikely that an unknown company with no international brand name recognition to protect would act nearly so responsibly.
