Yup - you're exactly right - little holes! They must cut these skins by laser - b/c they really do fit.
Also, I too have NO patience with working with little bits of things - but I got mine applied with minimal profanity. The adhesive allows you to lift & re-apply very easily. And the skins are a little "stretchy" - which can help in the positioning.
