There is a big difference between copyright infringement and an OEM customizing a product for several resellers. AFAIK, your Cybook Gen3 started life as a Netronix EB600, just like my ESlick EB100 did. Each of the resellers knows that others are selling the same product, sometimes in the same market. The OEM created the design, sometimes with the help of a reseller. Actually a lot of OEMs just take the chipmakers evaluation board and modify it slightly. But I'm pretty sure all that activity is licensed - for a fee.
