I am also trying to use the sony software (ver. 3) on a Mac OSX 10.4.11. I have been trying without success for 1 month, the same problem where my reader shows up as "Error". I have contacted Sony and they don't know what the problem is. They escalated the problem up to their specialists but that was about 2 and a half weeks ago. They said they would call me when they figure out what the problem is, I will let you know if I ever hear anything.
