Remi Nable knocked on Yvan's door and waited for a reply. Nothing. That was unusal, since a tap on the door usually resulted in at least five minutes of bellowing and vitriol. Cautiously, he opened the door and peered in. Nothing. Strange, that. Le Terrible was always at his desk this time of day. He had come to count on it. In fact, Remi was pretty certain that Le Terrible never left his desk except to harangue his workers and pick up pamphlets from the printers next door.

Going back to his sander, he asked around for the whereabouts of the boss. He was getting concerned. His career had been meteoric up to that point, if by metoeric you meant burning up in the atmosphere and occasionally crashing into the ground with a loud roar. He really needed to have a success under his belt to get back on thepromotion track.

Finally, he saw the secretary walking in from her coffee break. TThose breaks lasted about an hour and were interspersed amongst the three hour lunch breaks and the hour long phone conversations. Remi wondered why Yvan didn't fire her, but then remembered: she was his daughter.

"Cat! Could I talk with you?"

Rolling her eyes, Cat said, "I'm on break!"

"It will only take a moment. Where is Yvan? I have some specs on this material we're using that I need to ask him about." Asking about "specs" always served as a good smoke screen when prying for information. People tended to divulge whatever they knew instantly when large amounts of nembers threatened to be foist upon them.

"Dad's gone on one of those trips he takes. Something about organizing something. You know, I'm not sure why he bothers. I mean, have you seen his desk? There are papers in there from before I was born!"

Remi felt a slow panic spreading over him. His one and only job here was to keep an eye on the most notorious Socialist agitator and Quebecois in the nation and he's blown it! Now Yvan Le Terrible was loos on the country organizing marches and protests by employed proletariat everywhere. And the pamphlets. He was sure he was going to get a sharply worded memo about the pamphlets.
