For me, if I had to choose one book, it would be The Hobbit. It started a whole genre.

Followed closely by The Lord of the Rings, which is not as easy to read.

I'm halfway through the Sherlock Holmes stuff; that will probably become another one I go back to time and again.

Just for fun, I go back to the Dungeons and Dragons "Choose your own disaster" paper books. (not available electronically) from the 1980s.
